Hola Town Privacy Policy

Hola Town ("we") is a game for learning languages, made by Daniil Parokonnyy. This policy covers the website holatown.com and the Hola Town apps for iPhone and Android. Contact: daniel@holatown.com.

Short version: we don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use ad trackers. You don't need an account. Your progress stays on your device. We count how people use the game so we can make it better.

1. What stays on your device

Your progress, learned words, settings and chosen language are saved in your device's local storage (in the app, the app's own storage). They are not sent to us. Deleting the app (or clearing site data in your browser) deletes them.

2. Usage analytics

We use these services to understand how the game is played, for example how many people finish mission 1:

We do not use autocapture, session recordings, advertising IDs (IDFA/GAID) or cross-app tracking. We never combine this data with data from other companies for advertising.

3. Purchases

• In the iPhone app, purchases go through Apple's App Store. In the Android app, through Google Play. Apple or Google handle your payment details; we only receive a confirmation that the purchase was made, so the app can unlock the chapter.
• On the website, purchases go through Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. Polar collects your email and payment details to process the payment, issue a receipt and handle refunds, under its own privacy policy. We receive the order status and the email you gave at checkout.

4. Email

If you join a waiting list, we keep the email you type and the language you were learning, only to tell you about Hola Town. Ask us and we delete it.

5. Children

Hola Town is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

6. How long we keep data

Analytics events are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated. Purchase records are kept as long as tax law requires.

7. Your choices and rights

• You can use the game without giving us your name or email.
• Website: block analytics with any content blocker; the game works the same.
• You can ask us to access or delete analytics data tied to your device ID, or your email. Write to daniel@holatown.com; we answer within 30 days.
• If you live in the EU or UK, you have the rights given by the GDPR, including complaining to your data protection authority. Our legal basis for analytics is our legitimate interest in improving the game; for purchases, the contract with you.
• If you live in California, we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA.
• Mexico (LFPDPPP): you may exercise your ARCO rights (access, rectification, cancellation, opposition) at the contact address.

8. Security

All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

9. Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date above and, for big changes, say so in the game.
