Prepositions in, on, at (time and place): a game homework
The party invitation: plan Lucía’s party, invite Carmen and Marta, then find Don Ramón at the bus stop.

The grammar in 3 lines
- Time: at for clock times and short moments (at eight, at the weekend), on for days and dates (on Saturday, on 5 May), in for months, years and parts of the day (in May, in the evening).
- Place: at for a point (at the bus stop, at the café), on for a surface (on the table, on her head), in for inside a space (in the fridge, in the square).
- Learn the fixed ones as chunks: at night, in the morning, on the bus, at home.
| In the game | Why |
|---|---|
| The party is on Saturday. | days take on |
| It starts at eight. | clock times take at |
| Her glasses are on her head. | a surface: on |
| The lemonade is in the fridge. | inside: in |
Why a game works for prepositions in, on, at
Every preposition sends you somewhere
Say the party is “in Saturday” and Lucía looks confused. Get it right and the invitation goes out.
Time and place in one story
The mission mixes both on purpose, which is exactly where students mix them up.
Short, with a fair score
Eight grammar moments and a five-question check with Don Ramón. Only first tries count.
Teacher instructions
- Revise in, on and at for time and place in class. In Life Vision Elementary it goes with Units 1 and 4.
- Send the homework link to the class chat or your LMS.
- Students type their name and play until the “Homework done” card (6–8 minutes).
- They send you a screenshot of that card: name, score, date and a check code.
- Next lesson: each student says one time and one place sentence from the party.

What students send you: A “Homework done ✓” card with the student’s name, the topic, the score (first tries only), stars, the date and time, the time spent, a check code (HT-…) and a “To review” list of their first-try mistakes. You can check a code with the student’s name and score: same name, date and score always give the same code.
For the board: “Play the Hola Town mission at holatown.com/play?learn=en&hw=prepositions-in-on-at and send me a screenshot of the ‘Homework done’ screen.”
